I have always known that McCain was going to be tough the beat. The latest set of polls are starting to show that. In what  could be her last week as the possible nominee Clinton actually makes up some ground. In the last 6 poll she improves from 1-5 to 1-2-3 and decreases her average margin of defeat from 4.3% to 1.9%. Meanwhile Obama continues to do better than Clinton but he falls from 5-0-1 to 4-2 and his average margin of victory falls from 4.8% to 3.7%. Despite the inroads McCain has made in recent polls Obama continues to do better than Clinton in every head-to-head match up.

Why I hate Ralph Nader!

Ralph Nader is running for President once again. He claims that he wants to give Americans a choice. He believes that both American political arties have become too corporate. He says both parties have let this country down when it comes to the Iraq war.

I agree with him on those issues but he has no business running for President. He is not running for President because he cares about his country. He is running for President because he is selfish and he enjoys playing the role of the spoiler.

I believe with all my heart that if it wasn’t for Ralph Nader we would be nearing the end of Al Gore’s second term as President instead of George W. Bush’s. In election that came down to 537 votes he had no business running for President in 2000 either. People say there is no evidence that everybody who voted for Nader would have voted for Gore. Okay, if you say so. I can’t imagine the very liberal people who voted for Nader would have voted for Bush. We didn’t’ need all of the people who voted for Nader in Florida in 2000 to vote for Gore. We just needed 538 of them and the rest to vote for anybody but Bush.

I must point out that Nader didn’t just cost Gore the election in Florida. The Florida thing has been done to death. Ralph Nader also cost Al Gore the state of New Hampshire, which at that time would have been enough to have changed the outcome of the entire election. Gore last New Hampshire by 7,211 votes, Nader receive 22,000. You do the math.

In 2004 Nader ran for President again. As always he claimed America deserved a choice. Yet not even the Green Party wanted him. He was forced to run as a true independent. The man did some deplorable things to get on the ballot in some states. He accepted money from Anti-Gay organizations. With gay marriage such a hot button issue in 2004 the organizations knew Nader would siphon votes away from John Kerry. Yet Nader still accepted their money. This from a man people claim can not be bought. Then his supporters collected signatures to get him on the Iowa Ballot at a Republican rally. If that isn’t admitting that Nader benefits Republicans I don’t’ know what is.

Going back to 2000 again. Nader said there was no difference between Al Gore and George W. Bush…Does anybody still believe that? If you do you are a man fool.

Of course I don’t just blame Ralph Nader for running I blame the people who voted for him.

As mentioned before Nader represented the Green Party in 2000. Did the people who voted for him really think George W. Bush would be better for the environment than Al Gore?

Another argument for voting for Ralph Nader in 2000 was for the Green party to get 15% of the national popular vote so that in future elections it could receive federal matching funds. Well guess what? They failed and we’ve wasted eight years with George W. Bush as President.

I am all in favor of establishing a legitimate third or fourth party in American. But the way to do it is on the local and state levels first. Get Greens or Libertarians elected to city council, school boards and state legislatures. Then work on getting some elected to the U.S. House of Representatives or senate. But third parties too often are only interested in making a splash every four years. That’s not how you change things.

So whether he ends up running with the Green Party or as an independent Ralph Nader has once again put his own ambition over what’s most important for this country.

A great deal of resources that should be devoted to defeating John McCain will now be spent fighting Nader.

With so many troops still in Iraq, the economy and education in the shitter and the balance of the Supreme Court hanging in the balance the stakes have never been higher. If Ralph Nader helps John McCain get elected there will be blood on his hands.

Shame on you Ralph Nader, SHAME ON YOU!!

More bad news for Hillary. While she remains 2-3-1 in the last six polls against McCain she loses the last two including the last one by 12 points!

More good news for Obama. He remains 6-0 against McCain and the same poll that had Hillary down by 12 points has him up by 7.

In defense of Hillary

I am an Edwards turned Obama supporter.

However, there are a number of things I like and admire about Hillary Clinton.

The fact that she went to Law School in a decade when women were still expected to just become wives is impressive. I admire that she kept her maiden name when she first married Bill Clinton. During the eight years her husband was President she was a groundbreaking first lady who tried to do more then just sit around and look pretty.

But she’s been in a no win situation since 1992.

Since she is her own person people have been overly critical. Much of the animosity that has been thrown Hillary’s way is classic sexism. The fact that she isn’t just the little woman threatens people. Strong women threaten people.

When the Lewinsky scandal broke in the late 90’s people where critical for not leaving Bill but can you imagine the outrage if she had left him? Again she found herself in a no win situation.

To this day people say the only reason she became a Senator in 2000 was because of her her husband was. I refuse to believe that. I didn’t hear the same criticisms of Elizabeth Dole when she became a Senator in 2002…What does that tell you. Mrs. Dole being strong and her own person is okay but when Hillary does it she’s a manipulative bitch.

Ad now Hillary is the first woman in United States history has a realistic chance to become President. But again she’s in a no win situation. If she’s tough and tries to lead people call her a bitch. If she goes vulnerability people say she’s week.

I was speaking with somebody last weekend about Hillary and whether Barack Obama would take VP spot on her ticket. This person said no. One of the reasons this person gave was because “The real vice president would be Bill no wait the real vice president would be Hillary.”

Are you kidding me. When Bill was president people would joke that Hillary was the one really calling the shots. Now if she does become President we’ll have to deal with the same people who said she was the real President back in the day now saying Bill is running things again…You can’t have it both ways.

Again I’m an Obama supporter but I do feel like Hillary gets a raw deal…But that doesn’t mean I don’t have issues with her. But that’s for another blog entry.

It’s not over…Hold impeachment hearings on Cheney before it’s too late!

So much attention is being paid right now to the democratic presidential primary. With good reason. So much is at stake. If there is to be any hope of getting out of Iraq, restoring some of our civil liberties and upholding a woman’s right to choose we must get a Democrat elected in November.

But we must not forget that the Bush Administration is still in power and they still must be held accountable for all the lies they have told. It is not too late to hold hearings.

I urge anybody who has been outraged…or even bothered by the Bush Administrations actions to visit following website:

http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com

Florida Congressman Henry Waxman wants to hold impeachment hearings on Vice President Dick Cheney.

Hold the Bush Administration accountable. Don’t let them off the hook.

Dear Oprah,

FUCK YOU.

This year you come out in support of Barack Obama. That is fine, I’m an Obama supporter too.

But where were your political leanings eight years ago? I blame you in part for the fact that George W. Bush is our president. He was doing very poorly with women voters until you allowed him to appear on your show. His charming appearance on your show allowed him to woo women voters to his side. I can’t believe that you honestly thought that George W. Bush would be better on women’s issues or African-American issues than Al Gore would. Women, especially married women, left the democratic party to vote for George W. Bush in both 2000 and 2004.

In 2003 you let Arnold Schwarzenegger come on your show during the campaign for California’s recall election. Did you let then Governor Grey Davis come on? No. Again FUCK YOU. Also again, did you really think Arnold would do more for women or African-Americans in the state of California? If you did you were a damn fool. Arnold has tried to cut social programs and education, things extremely important to the African-American community, every chance he got. Besides you’re in Illinois what business did you have letting a Gubernatorial candidate from California on your show?

If you help Obama get elected fine whatever. But where were you before when the country needed you to take a stand?

Good news for the dems. In the most recent 6 polls Obama improves to 6-0 vs McCain and Clinton “improves” to 2-3-1 vs McCain. Data still indicates that Obama is most likely to beat McCain. Of note is even in the polls where Clinton beats or ties McCain, Obama does better than Clinton.

Huckabee wins Kansas and is looking for a miracle…me too!

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee won the Kansas caucus today. He said he majored in miracles…While it’s taking a bigger risk I want a miracle too. I want him to pull the biggest upset ever and stop John McCain.

No doubt that Mike Huckabee is scarier. He’s more conservative than George W. Bush but both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama could clean the floor with him a general election. He’s done really well in the south but almost all the southern states have already cast their votes. What if he won Texas and pulled out an upset in Ohio at the beginning of March.

If it’s Hillary or Barack I would rather the democratic nominee face the devil head on instead of the devil in sheep’s clothing. John McCain likes to pretend he’s a moderate but make not mistake he would keep up in Iraq for the entire length of his presidency and not to mention what he would do to the Supreme Court.

So while it’s 99.999% going to be McCain today I’m still hoping or a miracle where we will face a far more beatable Huckabee.
